GM Offers Buyout To ALL Of Its 74,000 UAW Employees. How To Profit If Your Employer Offers You "The Package".

Breaking News!

For your consideration: GM Offers Buyout To ALL Of Its 74,000 UAW Employees. How To Profit If Your Employer Offers You "The Package".

You've worked somewhere for 10, 20, 30 years. The company is having a hard time paying its bills (included those excessive executive salaries). People are upset. You know the story . . .

The Money Kings have had friends in similar situations to those faced by GM employees recently. Commonly, large corporations get too big. When times get tough or fundamental changes in the marketplace occur that force change something starts to form inside the corporate vernacular. It's called: The Package.

Simply put: The Package is a way of telling employees one of many things:

  1. We're too fat, and we need to lose weight. We consider you "the fat" we need to trim.
  2. The owners aren't making what they want to make in relation to how much money we're bringing in. You're taking too much of the money by being employed here.
  3. Our revenue projections were wrong, and we spend too much.
  4. You're too expensive for us. We don't want to offer you a smaller salary package either. We'd rather you move on.
  5. What? Did you think you'd work here forever?

Regardless of the icing on the cake, the core The Money Kings want you to realize is that whenever you're offered the package you should TAKE IT and run.

The package is a sign, generally, of two things:

  1. You're gonna get fired.
  2. Your company might fire you.

We know you might be comfortable, or even happy where you are, but ask yourself: Do I want to work for a company that might fire me, and the whole world seems to know this? Do I want to work for a company whose business model and/or management is flawed thereby necessitating huge and media-embarrassing layoffs?

The Money Kings say: "Hell no." The Money Kings say: "If your employer doesn't want you, then you don't want them."

Now for the recommendation:

We don't care what age you're at, if The Package doesn't afford you the retirement lifestyle you desire then you've got one really good option for what to do with the money: EDUCATION.

We're not recommending that if you're a factory worker, you run out and enroll in a linguistics program at MIT (unless that's REALLY your dream). We want you to realize that The Package is a sign of weakness on a company's part, and that weakness can be a big opportunity for you to gain new skills that can pay off in the future.

If The Package will afford you an education as an engineer and you're already a mechanic, then you've found a good fit. And trust us, engineers are needed EVERYWHERE!

Think outside the box on this one, because the inside is ALL READY FILLED. Education is your best option. Go for it! If you're a bookkeeper already, study accounting; get a CPA. If you're a computer drafter, consider graphic design and marketing. If you're a manager, consider law school. You've got the real world experience, the only thing holding you back is another piece of paper.

Good luck out there.
