You Need To Give Your Love Affair With Dining Out A Rest.

For your consideration: You Need To Give Your Love Affair With Dining Out A Rest.

Your wallet has the following questions for you:

  • Are you so lazy that you think that eating something at home is never as good as eating something out?
  • Are you so uncreative that you think that the barista at your favorite coffee shop really likes you?
  • Are you so lonely that you think you need to drink at the bar in order to have a good time.

If your answer to all of these questions is "Yes," then guess what:

You're Having An Affair!!!

The Money Kings like to see happy relationships between people and their wallets. "To Love, Honor and Obey" are the three attitudes to hold towards one's wallet in order to secure a happy future.

But when you're answering "Yes" to the aforementioned questions, you're cheating . . . The new lover in your life is called: PREMIUM.

PREMIUM lies.
PREMIUM makes promises he can't keep.
PREMIUM is tricksy.

  • PREMIUM leads you to pay $9.99 plus tax and tip for 1lb of angel hair pasta, diced tomatoes and basil.
  • PREMIUM leads you to spend $1.75 plus tax on 12 ounces of coffee.
  • PREMIUM leads you to pay $3.25 plus tax and tip for one bottle of Bud Light.

Do The Money Kings go to bars? Of course. Do The Money Kings go to coffee shops? Of course. Do The Money Kings go to restaurants? Of course.

We acknowledge that for work purposes and networking purposes, every one of us must cheat on our wallets a bit every now and again in order to make sure the wallet stays filled! The pursuit of money makes each of us do things we probably shouldn't from time to time.

These occasional trists to the bar or restaurant are, however, akin to the occasional visit to a bordello by a GI during a war vs. an all out, long-term affair where you're living part-time at your lover's house, his kids call you daddy, etc., etc. Get our point?

  • 1lb of angel hair pasta, diced tomatoes and basil should cost you $2.99 and 12 minutes of labor.
  • Brewing an entire pot of coffee will cost you less than $1.00 and 2 minute of labor.
  • And frickin' Bud Light????!!!! Buy a 30-pack for $11.99 and do the math!!!

The pasta restaurant doesn't love you. The baristas don't love you. The hot bartender definitely doesn't love you.

The Money Kings love you.

Love yourself and your wallet first, and SAVE!

Good luck out there.

I usually agree with you,

I usually agree with you, and this one seems like a no-brainer on the surface, but I'd submit that it's not necessarily so. Much depends upon the time tradeoff involved. For instance, if you're earning $50 or $75 per hour, ordering Chinese for $15 and continuing to work instead of going out to the store, coming home and cooking and then cleaning up might just be a good investment. Shopping, preparation and clean-up in that case would save you $10 or so and cost you $50-75, for a net loss of $40-65.

I'm not disagreeing with your general principle; certainly a lot of money gets eaten up with this kind of convenience and people don't even notice it. But like every other financial issue, it requires assessment on a case-by-case basis.

good point!

and, of course, earning power warrants a certain level of opportunity cost--as you've outlined

east-asian food is one of those particular genres of food that bears a certain level of prep time and storage (vegetables) that usually make it wise to have someone else prepare your meal for you.

we thought of including this fact in this post, but decided to attack purveyors of "fine" dining establishments paying $18.99 for a meal that they could make in 15 minutes at the cost of 4 bucks.

good call!

I have a very bad eating out

I have a very bad eating out habit. I've been thinking about it quite a bit lately and someday here I'm actually going to try to break this horrible, expensive habit.

sounds like the first step to getting over your problem

has already begun:

Identify that you have a problem.

eating out too much really is addicting isn't it?

it's all a mindset
