Unexpected Hotel Reservation Savings?

For your consideration: Unexpected Hotel Reservation Savings?

The Money Kings will pose this scenario to you as a question.

Are you using:

  1. Hotwire
  2. Priceline
  3. Travelocity
  4. Expedia

?????????????????????????

What kind of discounts are these services really giving you?

Have you ever tried to search for a hotel on one of these services, and then replicated your search on one of the provided hotel’s web sites? What kind of results did you get?

Today one of our crew ran into a unique situation today that is worthy of TheMoneyKings.com

Our guy:

  1. Logged on to Expedia.com.
  2. Searched for a hotel.
  3. Got a price quote.
  4. Went to his selected hotel’s web site.
  5. Booked the same check-in and check-out dates.
  6. Got a lower price!

Wha????????!!!!!

That’s right. AND this isn’t the first time this has happened to one of The Money Kings. What’s even more unique about this situation is that another money saving tip came from this whole experience:

Our guy wanted to stay 4 nights in his hotel. The hotel was giving an incentive to stay for 5 nights. The incentive was 50% off the room rate for each night!

So say our guy was staying for 200 per night for 4 nights. Now, the hotel is saying that if he books for 5 nights, they’ll give him the whole package for 100 per night! Same room. Same package!!

He went for the longer booking, and simply checked out by phone the day that he wasn’t even in the hotel.

AND he saved 300 bucks plus tax! Awesome.

Try it the next time you have to book a trip. Play with those check-in/check-out dates and save money.

Good luck out there.

It is also safer

.. to book directly with the hotel. "Middlemen" like EXPEDIA are cheating customers. Source: http://www.expedianews.com

Nothing but problems...

...with booking via Expedia and other "savings" sites. My room isn't available or we get put in a different type of room than booked. It sucks and I will probably never go through those sites again. Except that I do like being able to do everything in one place for a lump sum.

why

But why would William Shatner lie to us? What would he have to gain??
