How Is This Educational? Yo Gabba Gabba!

Senior Sense

Hello Readers! The Money King is on vacation and will be back in a few days. So, in the meantime, I will be filling in.

For your consideration: How Is This Educational? Yo Gabba Gabba!

Has anyone heard of the children's TV show Yo Gabba Gabba?

Today is the first time that I did. My wife came downstairs wearing a Yo Gabba Gabba t-shirt, and I'm like "WTF is Yo Gabba Gabba!???".

Well, off to Wikipedia I went, and here's what I got:

Hosted by a human character named DJ Lance Rock, the series features a mix of live-action segments with cartoonish costumed characters Muno the red cyclops, Foofa the pink flower bubble, Brobee the little green one, Toodee the blue cat-dragon and Plex the robot, plus many short animated sketches and musical numbers. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo_Gabba_Gabba!)

Great, this sounds like another knockoff of Sesame Street, Blue's Clues, or a million other children's television shows. I decided I'd like to see a clip from this show since my wife's shirt had such crazy characters on it. Here is the first piece of educational wisdom I pulled up on YouTube:

Yep, that's right, this is our very own Biz Markie, hosting a segment in Yo Gabba Gabba! called Biz's Beat.

WTF are we teaching our kids!!??

It's no wonder that the test scores of the children in the United States are going down the tubes. Other countries are spending their time, money, and resources educating their children. However, Nickelodeon feels that our kids would be better off in life if only they learned how to beat box from Biz Markie. No wonder why teacher's jobs are so hard. They need to spend their time "un-teaching" the stupid stuff kids pick up from home TV and come into the classroom with.

What To Do With All That Extra Iraq Money.

Senior Sense

No, we’re not going to endorse a candidate here.

No, we’re not going to talk about what the next president should do in Iraq.

Yes, we’re going to get controversial.

For your consideration: What To Do With All That Extra Iraq Money.

Yes, we’re going to tackle what to do with the money we’d NOT spend in Iraq should an incoming president decide to pull troops out entirely.

Yesterday, one of our crew heard on WLS-AM that the US is paying the salaries of over 100,000 Iraqi government workers. Not, US workers in Iraq. We’re talking about the equivalent of a Congressperson in America, but in Iraq. Is this true?

If you read Harper’s Index, or Google search “Iraqi US spending,” you’ll find all sort of factoids about spending in Iraq. Have fun with that . . .

Many analysts think the US is approaching a total cost of 4 trillion bucks on this war. The Money Kings guess it’s a good thing that we’re not talking about what we COULD have done with all that cash in our own country! Maybe fund a maglev system across the states like they’ve had in Disney World for 30 years???!!! Maybe Disney Co. should run the country for a year? Hell, maybe all of the Fortune 500 should be given a rotational year advising the Congress and the President and the Supreme Court on how the country should efficiently manage its cash?

Regardless, we’re spending a lot on the war. If we leave Iraq, then we’ll have some excess cash lying around. What should we do with it?

Seniors Must File A Tax Return To Get The Economic Stimulus Rebate Check From Uncle Sam

Senior Sense

This one is a really good, but quick tip:

Don't take for granted that Uncle Sam is going to mail senior citizens an estimated $300.00 each as an economic stimulus payout, even though they haven't filed a tax return in years due to low income status!!!

A tax return MUST be filed for anyone wishing to get one of these checks!

That Uncle Sam of your's is tricky, isn't he?

News about these economic stimulus monies are all over the US press. In fact, there's so much news on these checks that tons of Americans just think they need to sit at home and wait for the mail carrier to show up with their money on a little shiny red, white and blue pillow.

Think again.

If you're not a senior, but have senior relatives/friends, it's up to you to remind these folks of their duty to file in order to take part in the stimulus package.

Don't forsake these individuals.

Good luck out there.
